RAMBLINGS OF A NB SHOOTING BUM - PART II

RAMBLINGS OF A NB SHOOTING BUM - Part II - Oct 24,2014

The 2014 RNBRA AGM came off without a hitch. I must thank all those who gave up their Sunday to come to Sussex and participate in the meeting. Without membership involvement it is difficult to get a sense of what people expect from the Association and where we should focus. One wise and experienced Board member told me that the limited attendance was likely a vote of confidence in our effort. I hope that is the case, and the limited attendance had nothing to do with there being no free lunch offered.

We should soon have our meeting minutes and reports, as well as our now approved revised Constitution and By Laws, available on our website. We would like for our Affiliated clubs to forward a brief yearly activity report for inclusion in our archived records as well as general information. I also ask that you consider volunteering for a committee position on one of our standing committees published in our Constitution and By- Laws.

OCTOBER 19, 2014 - RNBRA ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING

The Annual General Meeting of the RNBRA  was held in Sussex NB on Sunday, October 19, 2014 with Interim President Michael Lutes chairing the meeting.
The following are excerpts and highlights from the meeting and are not intended as the minutes of this meeting.
- the activity of the Board since the resignation of the previous president and vice-presidents were reviewed. There has been an emphasis on communication with improvements to the RNBRA website and facebook; NFA insurance; establishment of an airgun section; and RNBRA members had a very good year of competition.
 - the Financial Review could not happen in 2014 as the previous year's books were not comprehensible. This will be done in the coming year by Conrad Leroux and Daniel Chisholm.
 - the RNBRA is composed of 105 individual members and 21 affiliated clubs which comprise 2805 affiliated members. Discussion focused on fees, club membership and the benefits to clubs of affiliating with the RNBRA.
 - Steven Stewart and Wayde Clifford have been busy with Club Development - courses, range development, airgun section, cadets
 - New Brunswick needs to start from scratch on the development of a coaching network.
 - the Airgun Section is preparing to send a team to the Canada Games. In 2019, there will be no shooting sports included and alternatives are being looked at.
 - The Pistol Section has had three Level III matches this year and has sent several shooters to national and international competitions.
 - the By-laws and Constitution were amended to increase the participation of the Board in decision making and also to improve the nominating process for the election of officers.
 - a new slate of officers was elected - Michael Lutes, President; April Brewer, 1st Vice Pres.; Don Brown, 2nd Vice Pres.; Matt Wolf, Larry Schriver and Tony Wood - Members at Large.
 - Membership Fees will increase to Individual Membership - $40 (Juniors $20); Individual Membership if a member of an Affiliated Club - $30 (Juniors $15). Club affiliation fees will not change.
 - A "Late Fee" was instituted to encourage people to submit their membership application/fees in the first months of the year. A Late Fee of $10 will be levied on applications received after March 31, 2015
 - This year, the Andy Gunter Award for meritorious service to RNBRA was given to Lorraine Chapman for her work as secretary of the RNBRA and also her work locally with several organizations.
 - noteworthy is Emily Dean's performance at the Nationals in Airgun; Don Coleman will be a shooting member of the Veteran's Palma Team; Daniel Chisholm will be a wind coach for the Palma team in 2015; several pistol shooters have attended the World Championships in Florida.

OCTOBER 19, 2014 - ANNUAL REPORT OF THE FULLBORE SECTION

2014 ANNUAL REPORT OF THE RNBRA FULLBORE SECTION
TO THE ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING OF THE
    ROYAL NEW BRUNSWICK RIFLE ASSOCIATION
    OCTOBER 19, 2014

This has been a busy year for the RNBRA Fullbore Section. We sponsored an RSO course and 16 matches in total which were attended by 175 participants. Each of these matches required the services of someone to prepare, set up and take down the range, to organize the event, to serve as Range Safety Officer and to set up and take down the scoring system. Needless to say, many people helped in making these matches successful.

    Range Safety Officer Course
We began the year, appropriately, with a Range Safety Officer course which was presented to 16 members by Wayde Clifford, who generously donated his time and knowledge for our benefit and provided us with trained RSOs to conduct our matches in the coming year. This course was hosted by the Club de Tir Saint Antoine Gun Club.

Matches Hosted by the RNBRA Fullbore Section
The following Target Rifle and FTR matches were held on the Batouche Range at CFB Gagetown. We thank the base personnel for their assistance and continued cooperation with our shooting program. The "All Comers Match", the "Fredericton Centennial Match", the "Memorial/MacGillivray Match", The "Coleman/Stapleford Match", the "RNBRA - Annual Prize Match", the "Chisholm Challenge" and the "Any Rifle-Any Sight Match" drew the participation of 70 shooters.

NEW COLUMN: RAMBLINGS OF A NB SHOOTING BUM - PART I

RAMBLINGS OF A NB SHOOTING BUM - Part I

It's October 10th 2014 already and the last match of the Fullbore season is scheduled this coming Sunday on Batouche Range in CFB GAGETOWN.

This summer has been extraordinarily busy for me as I competed in most of the major maritime long range target rifle matches this year as well as the Canadian National Championships held just outside our national capital.

Having fired over 1400 rounds with my new 308 target rifle this year I am very pleased with my rifle's performance. My own performance was somewhat sporadic and I am working on my training plan in order to improve my consistency next season. Having said that I was fortunate to shoot on the NB team which won the Inter Maritime and British Team matches as well as the Maritime Team who also won against the American New England Team in the Mini Palma match held this year in the USA. My shoot at this years Nationals was very rewarding as my planning and preparation payed off with a personal best 9th place finish in the Canadian Target Rifle Aggregate, which has earned me an invitation to compete on the Canadian 18 shooter team to Bisley, England next July for 3 weeks, ( I'm currently saving pennies for the trip).
