JUNE 16, 2018 - COLEMAN/STAPLEFORD MATCH - RESULTS

We had a great turnout for the final long range match before the Eastern F-Class Championships which will be held in Batouche next
weekend. Seventeen shooters attended including some new faces and some that we haven't seen in a while. It was nice to see Mike back after his surgery.

The wind was very hard to read today, creating some challenging conditions for all. Many of us realized too late that sometimes the best approach is to center the group and hope for the best.
We fired a 15-shot match at
800 and 900 (resulting in a possible score of 150.30), and then we were sent home early by range control due to extreme risk of fire. All shooting on the base was stopped, which was welcome
for many because of our late start and the hot weather.
Today, Adam MacDonald was the match director and sent in the scores. Brian Bastarache sent the pictures. Thanks to both.

JUNE 9 and 10, 2018 - INTERMARITIME MATCH and BRITISH TEAM MATCH - RESULTS

Thanks to Gord Holloway and Michelle Cormier for sending the pictures and write-up.

Last weekend, the Annual Intermaritime Match and British Team match were shot in PEI at the Alexandra Ranges just outside of Charlottetown. It was cold and windy both days but the rain held off and so did the bugs. Sunday, the day of the British Team Match was miserable at 10C and with winds from 10 to 30 km/hr.

Despite these conditions, New Brunswick wind coaches, Don Coleman and Adam MacDonald did an excellent job of guiding the shooters to a win in both matches. Thanks to them and congratulations to the team are in order.

all sporting the official New Brunswick tartan tie

PEI provided lunches both days, and we had our Banquet at Hunter's Ale House in Charlottetown.  It was announced at the Banquet that Team New Brunswick had won the Inter-Maritime Team Match, a very close match as we beat Team Nova Scotia by only one bullseye.  It came as a surprise and we were all very happy with the win. Sunday afternoon, after the match, the trophies and medals were presented inside the range building.  Dave Hanson gave the presentations, and announced that Team New Brunswick had also won the British Team Match, needless to say we were over the moon!!

With that, we all said our good-byes and called it another year. Our thanks go to Chuck Bachmanek and Dave Hanson and all the crew from PEI for a very fine event. Great range, great coordination, great effort by all.

Until next year in Nova Scotia,

JUNE 6, 2018 - PRECISION RIFLE STEEL CHALLENGE

From Mark McMullen:
On June 6, 2018 the Fullbore section hosted a precision rifle steel challenge on Batouche range at 5 CDSB Gagetown.
The match was loosely styled
after PRS (Precision Rifle Series) matches popular in the US and Canada. Steel targets were between 300m and 600m from the shooter and were engaged from a varity of barricades.

Thanks to all the competitors and visitors who came out from PEI, NS, and NB and I hope to see you all at the next one.

JUNE 2, 2018 - IM/BT TEAM PRACTICE

Today's match was a mixture of practice and testing the relay format for the Easterns F-Class Championships. We had a reduced match fee of $10. We used dedicated scorekeepers and the ShotMarker e-target configured to only show one shot at a time, which will be used for the Easterns. This system worked very well and we think the Easterns should go smoothly with this scorekeeping method.
Special thanks to Jesse MacArthur who came to learn the ropes in preparation to be the e-target helper at the Easterns.
There was some difficult wind and no mirage to read at all. It was an incredibly clear picture, with the cool weather, clouds, and wind to keep mirage away. In general, we were happy with waterlines but couldn't help shooting 3's and 4's on the more challenging ICFRA target with only the flags to go on.
We each fired two strings on score, and then some extra shooting afterwards. Here are the attendees:

F-Class Shooters:
Gord Holloway - 47-2, 50-2
Adam MacDonald - 44-2, 49-1
Harrison Brown - 49-1, 40-1
Roly Trainor - 44-2, 32-0
Steven Stewart (no scorecard)
Matt Wolf (did not shoot)
Ken Kyle (no scorecard)

TR Shooters:
Don Coleman 48-4, 45-2
Ken Geddes (no scorecard)
