JULY 7 and 8, 2018 - RNBRA - APM - RESULTS

This from Mark McMullen (many thanks to Mark for organizing a very fine APM this year):
On July 7 and 8, 2018, the RNBRA Fullbore section hosted our Annual Prize Match at Batouche range on 5 CDSB Gagetown. I’d like to thank all the competitors and volunteers who made it possible.  We had competitors travel over from PEI and up from NS. It’s always great to see the familiar faces from other provinces.
The weather was hot and humid on Friday afternoon, but the volunteers managed to get the range setup before the rain hit.  Saturday started cool, but did warm up by the afternoon. The wind was steady, but still caught us off guard at times. All 300m and 600m matches were shot on Saturday.  An informal dinner was held at Griffins Pub, located on base in the Canex mall, and the food, drinks and company were enjoyed by all.
Sunday was another beautiful day, with the forecast calling for a very hot and humid afternoon.  The match committee decided to move everyone to one relay on Sunday, to try to finish before the heat got too bad.  The wind was very switchy, with the flags and mirage often disagreeing on what was happening downrange. It made for a challenging long range day, with the 800m and 900m matches being shot.  We managed to finish ahead of schedule, and get our competitors on the road home early.
Congratulations to all the winners and thanks to all who came out.

JULY 15, 2018 - A FLASH FROM THE PAST

From Michael Lutes:
A flash from the past I saw on Face Book the other day. I thought you'd enjoy
Moe Norman ( likely the RNBRA Prez. ) presenting to Chuck  on the Fredericton Clark St range.

Several of us uncharitable shooters referred to the range as a steamy mosquito swamp but we were lucky that Ellen had pushed the city to reopen and fix it up a little.
For a couple years while Batouche was being reconstructed it was the only maritime option for long range shooting.

JUNE 30, 2018 - FULLBORE SECTION EXECUTIVE MEETING

FULLBORE SECTION EXECUTIVE MEETING
JUNE 30, 2018
BATOUCHE RANGE, GAGETOWN NB.

PRESENT:
Adam MacDonald, Chairman; Mark McMullin, Vice-Chairman; Don Coleman, Secretary; Ken Kyle, Treasurer; Gordon Holloway invitee.

BACKGROUND OF PROPOSAL TO PURCHASE SHOTMARKER E-TARGET SYSTEM
The Eastern F-Class Championships budgeted $1800.00 for six E-Targets for three days. This money was earmarked for Adam McDonald for the rental of the Shotmarker system. The APM will require 5 E-Targets for two days and rental will cost $1000. And for 3 days in September for the Atlantics. The Shotmarker system worked well for the F-Class Easterns.
Instead of renting the E-Targets for these two matches for a price of $2800.00, Adam proposed that the Fullbore section not pay the rental fee but purchase 5 used ShotMarker E-Target systems for this price along with five tablets. Alberta may use three E-Targets early in August for their Provincials as part of the deal and they will be replaced if damaged free of cost. Adam is offering the used ShotMarker system at approximately half price.
The Fullbore Section hopes to sell the old target system for approximately $1500.00 and PEI will be offered first refusal.

Financial Summary: After all outstanding bill have been paid it is estimated that the Fullbore Section will be in a good position to purchase supplies and upgrade equipment at this time.

Target Marking System: Don Coleman made a motion to Purchase Five used ShotMarker e-target Systems and Tablets from Adam MacDonald. The price will be $2800.00 of which $1000.00 has already been paid in rental fees.  Seconded by Key Kyle.

Defibrillator: We decided to purchase a defibrillator AED.  RNBRA will cover one half the cost. Laura Kaderly already has information regarding cost of an AED which is approximately $800.00.

Match Fees: The Fullbore Section intends to lower the match fees next year to $20.00 from $25.00.

Insurance: The Fullbore Section will cover the insurance fees for new shooters. RNBRA membership will be required after participating in two shooting sessions.

Generator: Adam MacDonald will make arrangement for the installation of an electric panel to accommodate a generator for the trailer.

Wind Flags: Don Coleman will investigate the purchase of wind flags for Batouche Range.

Targets: Inventory of target bedsheets and centres needs to be done before the Atlantics.

Sign: A new sign for the RNBRA Trailer was discussed.

Crest: Ken Kyle mentioned that we should have a crest to give out to competitors at our APM.

APM: Final details for the 2018 APM were finalized.

JUNE 22 - 24, 2018 - BATOUCHE - EASTERN F-CLASS CHAMPIONSHIPS

Thank you to Laura Kaderly for sending the results, write-up and photos.

On June 22-24, the RNBRA Fullbore Section hosted the
8th Annual Eastern Canada F-Class Championship. This DCRA-sanctioned event brought 25 competitors from New Brunswick, Ontario, Quebec and PEI to Batouche

Range at 5 CDSB Gagetown to shoot either F/TR or F-Open at 800m and 900m. The competitors ranged from experienced to new and with prizes for top shooters and many door prizes, there was something for everyone.
On Thursday the Match Committee and a couple other volunteers (thanks Tony Pham and Gord Ogg!) arrived early on the base to setup targets, clean the RNBRA trailer and get everything prepped for the 3-day match.

Friday morning competitors arrived early, anxious to register, weigh their rifles and begin shooting. After a morning practice session, where shooters could zero their rifle and get introduced to ShotMarker electronic targets, competitors shot one match at 800m and one match at 900m. The sun stayed hot in the clear blue sky and the mirage was tricky. That evening, most people met at McGinnis Landing for a casual dinner together.
On Saturday three individual matches were shot, one at 800m and two at 900m. The weather was warm and partially cloudy, but windy all day. By the afternoon the wind picked up significantly, making for some extremely difficult shooting conditions. The competitors dropped an average of 8 points between the morning and afternoon matches; the top score in the afternoon was 68-3V (FO) and 64-2V (FTR).
