DCRA - 2012: F-CLASS NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS - RESULTS

As many of you probably already know, our own Dan Chisholm has been very busy this year working on changes to the DCRA National Championships shot at the Connaught Ranges in Ottawa. This year, for the first time, an F-CLASS NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP was shot from August 16 to August 18, 2012 and shot separately (mostly - there is still a little overlap) from TR competition. This format seems to have worked well with stiff competition from shooters around the country. The future for F-Class in Canada looks good with this development. Congratulations to Dan and many thanks for his excellent work.
For calculating the Grand Agregate, there were 16 F-Open and 25 F-F (FTR/MTR) competitors. Although no Maritimers were entered in the F-Open competitions, four shooters from the Maritime Provinces were among the F-F competitors. Matt Wolf(NB) placed 5th with a Grand Aggregate score of 542.27; Andrew Webber(NS) placed 15th with 520.29; Wendy Reid(NS) placed 16th with 516.23 and Francis Bezeau(NB) placed 22nd with 486.13
Congratulations to each of the shooters and our best wishes for future successes.

PRINCE EDWARD ISLAND RIFLE ASSN. APM 2012 - RESULTS

The Annual Prize Match of the PEIRA was held on July 27 and 28,
2012 at the Alexandra Range (see www.peira.ca for a map)
_______________________________________________________________________
RESULTS
First of all thanks to Ian Hogg, Dale MacLeod and Bob Barwise for their work in hosting a very enjoyable APM at the beautiful Alexandra Range. They even arranged for no rain at all and moderate, though tricky, winds. Also thanks to all the people behind the scenes without whose work we would not be able to shoot! And to Julie Carver for a great job as RO - everything at the firing points worked so well with her in charge!!
There were 15 shooters in attendance over the 2 days of the APM. Of these, 6 were from PEI, 6 from New Brunswick and 3 from Nova Scotia. All had a lot of fun and posted some pretty good scores to boot. As indicated in the program, there were 11 individual matches. The results below are reported for the distances shot and the four different aggregates followed by the individual match results. At 300yds 30 rounds were shot on score; at 500yds 40 rounds; and at 600yds 55 rounds for a total of 125 rounds on score. F-class score is  6 for a V-bull and 5 for a bull.

Congratulations to Maritime Shooters at Bisley

I'm sure I speak on behalf of all the full-bore shooters, and others in New Brunswick, in heartely congratulating Wendy Reid (NS) for her outstanding performance at the F Class competitions held at the Bisley Ranges in the UK. Wendy won the Grand Aggregate with 774.49V.
She was one of four Maritime F Class shooters who did extremely well.
Ken Ferguson (NS) placed 3rd with a Grand Aggregate of 771.39V while Andy Webber(NS) placed 6th with 760.36V
The fourth maritime shooter was Bob Kierstead (NB) from the Fredericton area who placed 11th with an aggregate of 718.29V  I remember at one of our Springfield practices, how pleased Bob was with his rifle which had just been repaired  and finally shot a week or so before leaving for Bisley. He may have fired a few dozen rounds through it and then felt ready enough to go to a world F-class match. That folks, is mental preparation at it's finest (and also just plain courage)!!!
Not to be outdone, in Target Rifle (TR class),  Ray Smeltzer (NS) shot a 688.78V which placed him 72nd among 825 shooters in the Grand Aggregate! John Marshall (NS) shot 608.50V and Jeff Jenkins (NS) a 541.40V
Congratulations to all and our best wishes for future successes.

RCR CENTENNIAL MATCH - RESULTS

The RCR Centennial Match was fired on Saturday, July 7th 2012 at the Saint Antoine Gun Club Range. The Match Director was Ron Surette and the RO was Michelle Cormier. Many thanks to both for their hard work - it sure paid off as the shoot went very well and 14 shooters had a terrific day of shooting with some really great scores posted.
It was good to see Ken Geddes out for a match - his first in several years. Also Francis Bezeau for his second match in quite some time. Welcome back fellows!
Course of fire was 2 sighters and 10 on score at 300, 400, 500 and 600 meters. Many shooters had not shot the 400 meter range before - turned out to be a good experience.
We were really lucky with the weather - rain and thunder showers were forecast but the day was mostly hot and dry with one thunder shower during the last relay fired. Winds were mostly civil but fooled some a little, this writer was no exception.
Thanks to both Michelle Cormier and John Holleran for taking the pictures below:

SIERRA ISSF STYLE MATCH - RESULTS

The Sierra Match was shot on Saturday June 30, 2012 at the St Antoine Gun Club Range. It was comprised of 3 relays of 20 shots on score with unlimited sighters for the first relay and 2 sighters for the next 2 relays. Each shooter completed his/her entire relay while his/her partner scored. The match was shot at 300 meters on ISSF targets where the centre bull is worth 10 points and each ring further out is worth one point less.
A big thank-you goes to Ron Surette and Don Coleman for sharing the duties of Match Director and to Michelle Cormier for being RO for the day. The match went extremely well with everyone enjoying the shoot and social time.
The first shot went downrange at about 9:00am when it was a bit overcast. Very shortly after that the sky cleared and it became quite warm. Winds were light throughout the entire day.
Thanks are also due to Sierra - "The Bulletsmiths" (link here) for their generous annual donation of fullbore bullets as prizes for this match.
