ATLANTIC FULL BORE COMMITTEE MEETING - 2012
On Sunday, 25 November, the three Maritimes Provincial Rifle Associations met in Amherst NS at the Wandlyn Motel for our annual scheduling meeting (This is known as the High Power or Full Bore Committee). This is to confirm the dates of our shared matches, and to co-ordinate key dates in our schedules (e.g. so our APMs don't conflict with each other or with DCRA etc.).
New Brunswick was represented by Daniel Chisholm, Conrad Leroux, Mike Lutes, Ron Surette, and Bert deVink . The chairperson of this meeting was Daniel Chisholm while Wendy Reid was the recording secretary.
The full minutes are available by clicking on this link - Full Bore Committee Meeting - 2012 .Below you will find some of the highlights of this meeting:

8. Atlantic Championships - August 31 to September 2, 2013 at Alexandra PEI.

Other Business
1. The Mini-Palma Match, which will be shot on September 21 and 22, 2013 will be held at the Springfield Range just outside of Fredericton/Mactaquac (Batouche will be the back-up range). Electronic target marking will be used. Ranges will be 800, 900 and 900 meters with likely 15 rounds per range. John Marshall will be the co-ordinator for the Atantic Provinces team. Discussion needs to be held with the USA representatives about the number of rounds per range, the use of bipods or front rests, and other issues.
2. Team selection for the Mini-Palma Match will no longer be at the Atlantic Championships. This year, 5TR shooters and 2 F/TR shooters will be selected at the InterMaritime and British Team Matches. An additional 2 TR and 1 F/TR shooters will be selected at the discretion of the co-ordinator. Only TR and F/TR (ie. .223 and .308 calibers) shooters will be selected.
2. During the InterMaritime and British Team Matches, the 3 F-Class shooter component of the provincial teams will be F/TR shooters only - only .223 and .308 calibers, front bipod and rear bag will be allowed. There will no longer be an F/O shooter component on the teams.
3. There was some strong discussion regarding the restricting of participation of some classes of shooters (FO in particular). It was felt that at the time of emerging classes and others not yet fully incorporated into our long-range shooting (eg. long-range benchrest) to place undue restrictions on participation is a backwards step and will result in splintering of the community and the loss of some shooters. Others felt that the growth and encouragement of additional classes would somehow reduce the meager recourses of the shooting community (especially for TR, a waning class in contrast to F/TR, a growing class) in Atlantic Canada and that we should all shoot together instead of separately is is the case now in Ottawa.
4. Pre-registration is required this year at the Atlantic Championships in PEI. The registration fee for this match is $100, and for shooters planning to attend this event, a non-refundable $50, pre-registration fee is to be paid one month (July 28th) in advance. When you attend the match, the remainder of the fee ($50) is to be paid.
5. Pre-registration at provincial APMs is at the discretion of the provincial fullbore organizations. Nova Scotia and PEI are planning to require pre-registration at their APMs on a trial basis. New Brunswick will look into this further.
