JUNE 27, 2015 - COLEMAN/STAPLEFORD MATCH - RESULTS

It was a beautiful day for a 900 meter Fullbore shoot at Batouche - we shot 3 relays of 2+15 (Max. possible score = 225V45). Only 7 eager shooters were on hand to enjoy it. Too bad - you couldn't have dreamed up better conditions for shooting or better fellows to shoot with.
The whole bunch
Temperatures were around 16C in the early part of the match but quickly increased to about 23C. The wind was light and deceptive - moving the flags only a little most of the time. We turned our windage knobs a total of about 3 MOA from the greatest left wind, which was the prevailing condition, to the greatest right wind - a once in a while delight that caught some (most) by surprise.

RESULTS - TR SHOOTERS:
Mike Lutes - 215V12
Don Coleman - 207V9

RESULTS - FTR SHOOTERS:
Paul Bastarache - 200X16
Adam MacDonald - 200X8
Ron Mason - 193X11
Ken Kyle - 189X7
Bert deVink - 178X6

MIKE LUTES: RAMBLINGS OF A SHOOTING BUM

I'm going to ramble a bit today about a word that describes both a deliberate decision and an attitude that represents the largest threat to our civilization in modern times.
COMPLACENCY !  No matter how you choose to define it, is more and more prevalent in our modern busy society where technology makes it possible to forget many of the basic challenges of survival. We are all guilty of some level of complacency in our daily lives. Complacency can and often does affect our personal productivity, our relationships and our safety. Our personal complacency can also have large effect on our society.  None of us have the capacity to totally eliminate our personal complacency but fortunately we have the ability to decide where we will draw our personal line in the sand. Where our line is drawn says much about our personality and character, it often changes as we gain experience and prejudice.

JUNE 20, 2015 - ST. ANTOINE - RCR MATCH - RESULTS

The shooting of the annual RCR Match was held in St Antoine this Saturday with 11 keen fullbore shooters in attendance. We were a lucky bunch of people - how else would a shooter hope to spend a better sunny day with only light winds to drive away the mosquitos, with good friends and shooting colleagues, at a fine range on the east coast of New Brunswick?
The match, under the watchful eye of Match Director and RO Ron Surette, was composed of 3 stages - one 10 shot relay at 300 meters, one at 500m and a final one at 600m. Some very good shooting was done in both TR and FTR classes.
Thanks are due to Ron for his work in preparing the range and running the match. Thanks also to Michelle who handled the registrations and statistics.

JUNE 13 and 14, 2015 - INTERMARITIME MATCH AND BRITISH TEAM MATCH in PEI.

The annual shooting of the Inter-maritime Match was held on Saturday, June 13, 2015 at the beautiful Alexandra Range just outside of Charlottetown in Bellevue Cove. The Prince Edward Island Rifle Assn., with Chuck Bachmanek as president, hosted this event and made the teams from Nova Scotia and New Brunswick feel so welcome - like honourary islanders. This event is looked forward to in the Maritime Provinces and competition at the trials is usually pretty keen as everyone wants to be a part of this long standing tradition.

MAY 30, 2015 - RNBRA SMALLBORE MATCH - WOODSTOCK - RESULTS

Match Director
Hans vanSpingelen
The 2015 RNBRA Smallbore Rifle Championship was hosted by the Woodstock Rifle and Pistol Club and was held at theirrange this Saturday with the expectation of really warm and sunny weather.
When we first started out for the range, it was very foggy in Fredericton and this gradually dissipated as the sun rose higher and we drove further north on the TransCanada. By the time we reached the outskirts of Woodstock the sky was dark and cloudy and we were anticipating shooting in the rain but this condition also did not stay and it became warm and sunny all day - just as forecast. As the sun became more intense, the wind also picked up. It was never really quiet but often gusted well into 20km/hr, (on occasion much more, so-much-so that the target frames had to be weighted down), and from all directions on the range. One observer stated that the prevailing condition had changed 5 times since we started the match. It was tricky to say the least and produced some startling results.

At the start of the match, there were 27 people in attendance - many were there to help with whatever needed done. There are a good bunch of volunteers in Woodstock. We owe our thanks to Hans vanSpingelen who was the Match Director and was busy all day. Also thanks to the Organizing Committee of Hans van Spingelen, Bill Anthony, Greg Dickinson, Jeff Young and Paul Ritchie. The Registration was looked after by Stu Berry and the terrific hot-dogs and hamburgers were prepared by Simon Clark. The Chief RSO was Norbert Strahlendorff while the RSO was Floyd Burpee and the scorer was Paul Ritchie. Steven Stewart, representing the RNBRA, was on hand to advise and help sort out glitches. Many thanks to all for making this match possible.

As is now traditional in Woodstock the Match was opened by a welcoming/opening volley of shooters firing 2 rounds from their 43 Mausers. This is always fun and onlookers were impressed by the thick cloud of smoke moving downwind. The welcoming squad was composed of Norbert Strahlendorff, Greg Dickinson, Emma Jones, Chloe Dickinson, Charlotte Morgan and Wayne Burtt. Hooza to you all. Thanks for keeping your powder dry!
The Match was run with 3 relays of shooters - MTR and Sporter Classes combined. A separate
relay was shot by the Junior TR shooters. All shooters shot prone and the match was comprised of 60 scoring shots with unlimited sighters.
