SPORTS AND LEISURE BRANCH GRANT

The $4500 received from the Sports and Leisure Branch of the Provincial Government through the RNBRA, has been deposited to our account. It has not been spent in the last seven months. The Sports and Leisure Branch has some priorities including 1. Training for officials and coaches, 2. Athlete development.

The Fullbore Section is engaged in Strategic Planning which will incorporate these priorities. Our grant ($4500) is earmarked for the expenses related to projects that arise out of our strategic plan. These funds are anticipated to be used between January 1, 2017 and April 1, 2017.

REPORTING OF MATCHES

There has been a general lack of communication to the Chairman, who is also the Editor of the Blog, which came to a head around the time that the Sierra Bullet Match and the Mini-Palma were shot.

It was resolved that communication is part of the task of a Match Director and he or she should be responsible for collecting match fees and submitting them to the treasurer; collecting the result of the match and submitting them to the Editor of the Blog; having pictures taken - at least of the winners of the match - and submitting them to the Editor of the Blog.

Moved by Adam MacD. and seconded by Mike L. - adopted

ITEMS TO BE PRESENTED TO THE HIGHPOWER MEETING IN AMHERST

Adam MacD., Mike L., and Daniel C. will be representing the RNBRA Fullbore Section at this meeting and will be presenting the following for discussion:

  1. Communication from NS to NB is not as good as it should be, the chairperson of the provincial fullbore section needs to be in the loop and should have been part of the organization of the Mini-Palma

  2. Ideas to improve the Mini-Palma - a) allow FTR shooters in place of TR shooters, b) can select team based on score regardless of class, c)selecting the team ideas:

i) Use the InterMaritime Match with an open component

ii) Each province selects shooters based on APM results

            iii)Potential “team training day”

       3. NB will be hosting the InterMaritime, Mini Palma, and Atlantic Championships

       4. Eastern F-Class Championship - 2018

We have been asked to possibly host the 2018 Eastern F-class Championship somewhere in the Maritime Provinces. Should this be in Batouche or Bull Meadows? We estimate that 40-60 shooters would attend this event.

STRATEGIC PLANNING

Strategic planning is an exercise to help us to identify our priorities and goals for the next 2 to 5 years. The steps that will need to be taken  and the resources that will be needed to realize these goals are also identified. The Executive did a “brain storming” exercise to help identify means by which these goals could be supported and eventually realized. This portion of Strategic Planning is not complete and will be addressed in the next  meeting of the Fullbore Executive.

GOALS

The following three goals were discussed and adopted unanimously by the Fullbore Executive:

GOAL #1. Increase number of Fullbore (300m or longer) and long range shooters. We would like on average 2 additional shooters at scheduled events for the first year of our plan. During the second year this would again increase by 2 shooters, etc.

GOAL #2. Enhancing skill level for competitive shooters to national caliber. This would involve creating a pathway to competition for new shooters and also developing an “elite shooter” program.

GOAL #3. Retain casual competitive shooters

IDEAS TO SUPPORT THESE GOALS (UNORGANIZED)

Increasing our numbers

Advertising; Make it easier for people to get involved and improve; Free rifle and ammo for new shooters; Organize methods of teaching basics; Clear organized written advice; Methods of recruitment for new fullbore shooters; Mini-fullbore (22) for the winter; Create a class for hunters with scopes; Social events to help with retention

Enhancing skill level

Streamlined load development; Training tools for home; Group training at the range; Funding for travel; Encourage group attendance; Plan to host larger matches further in the future

Retain casual competitive shooters

Buying new e-targets

Motion to adjourn (10:30) : Daniel C.
