SUPREME COURT OF CANADA RULES THAT AIRGUNS ARE "FIREARMS"

SUPREME COURT OF CANADA RULES THAT AIR GUNS ARE "FIREARMS
On Wednesday, November 5, the Supreme Court of Canada issued its ruling R. v. Dunn, finding that most air guns are considered “firearms” for all purposes in the Criminal Code except for licensing and registration.
The Court affirmed the previous decision of the Ontario Court of Appeal, which itself had overruled a decade of its own jurisprudence in finding that air guns are “firearms”. Prior to this case, the courts had held that air guns are not treated as “firearms” unless they are used for some offensive or unlawful purpose.

RAMBLINGS OF A SHOOTING BUM - PART III

RAMBLINGS OF A SHOOTING BUM - Part III - Nov 17 2014

I trust everyone is almost prepared for winter. You know what I'm talking about - the many little jobs that seem to take so much of our time this time of year. For many of us as we prepare for winter we are also trying to get in some hunting.

Unfortunately, Deer and Moose season fall in busy times for RNBRA Board members as this time of year is generally occupied with shooting program business.

Several friends have mentioned the Black Friday shopping that is fast approaching, they are hopeful they will accomplish their Christmas shopping early.

RAMBLINGS OF A NB SHOOTING BUM - PART II

RAMBLINGS OF A NB SHOOTING BUM - Part II - Oct 24,2014

The 2014 RNBRA AGM came off without a hitch. I must thank all those who gave up their Sunday to come to Sussex and participate in the meeting. Without membership involvement it is difficult to get a sense of what people expect from the Association and where we should focus. One wise and experienced Board member told me that the limited attendance was likely a vote of confidence in our effort. I hope that is the case, and the limited attendance had nothing to do with there being no free lunch offered.

We should soon have our meeting minutes and reports, as well as our now approved revised Constitution and By Laws, available on our website. We would like for our Affiliated clubs to forward a brief yearly activity report for inclusion in our archived records as well as general information. I also ask that you consider volunteering for a committee position on one of our standing committees published in our Constitution and By- Laws.
